VFW 4947 sponsors a scholarship contest each year for $500 to the best patriotic essay submitted by a Monticello High School/Senior for continuing education. Applications can be picked up at the Monticello High School Guidance Office. Submissions must be entered by Memorial Day. Post VFW 4947 Members vote a winner at the meeting following Memorial Day. The Scholarship will be presented at the High School Award Ceremony.
